" Katie Lyne Kravitz is an American multimedia artist with a heavy focus on nature and our place within it. Her works seek to make a connection between the physical medium and the environment it was created in. This could be anything from taking clay from the earth and forming it to the shape of a tree branch, or taking rubbings from termite bitten wood and creating forms out of them. Being that her work is made primarily in nature (the place that she finds herself most creatively driven) there is a very attune attention to form and shape. Within whichever medium she is using for her projects, every line and form is carefully chosen and arranged in conversation with the other lines and forms that also occupy the same space. When viewing her work, one feels a sense of harmony and can sense the love that she has for the earth. Her influences include Andy Goldsworthy, Cristina Iglesias, and Georgia O’Keefe, all of which show within Kravitz’ own practice. One thing that all of her influences have in common is their ability to take nature’s seeming chaos and portray it delicately and wholly. Kravitz’ own work is reminiscent of the same values, with a bit of a more graphic and playful tone. The world perceived through her pen, paintbrush, and more is certainly a pretty one, and if you are a lover of the outdoors as she is, a familiar one as well. " statement by artist
